The Appalachian Plateau region is the smallest region in Georgia. Located in the northwestern part of the state it is surrounded by the Ridge and Valley on its southern and eastern sides. This area has milder summers, with colder winters, which usually bring snow and ice. One of the tourist attractions in this area is lookout mountain, the tallest place in Georgia. They have a few shallow, fast moving streams, but not any prominent ones. This is also the only place in Georgia where coal is found. This region has hardwoods, pastures, corn, and soybeans, which they sell to other areas. This place is also home to some flat topped mountains, such as Mt. Sand, Mt. Pigeon, and Lookout mountain. This region also has many limestone caves and such, that are scattered all over this region. The average temperature in this region is, on average, a high of 72 degrees, and a low of 48 degrees. The estimated population of this area is 90,670. The main city in this region is Trenton.
